Ọbàtálá is considered the most senior Òrìṣà and is regarded as the creator of human beings, whom he moulds with clay over the skeleton supplied by Ògún. Olódùmarè designated him to lead the Òrìṣà down to Òkè-Àrà and to create dry land, but he drank palm-wine and fell asleep, so his younger brother Odùduwà did it instead.
